I think you'll find a nut welded to the back side. Still, you can drill it out and put in a Heli-coil insert. This will reestablish a good threaded hole.

It would be cheaper to just get Grade 8 bolts the size you need. You go through a dealer and they'll charge you and arm and a leg.
