Today the "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED" message came on the overhead. It is not time to change the oil. How do I turn it off?????

1) Insert your key into the vehicle ignition of your Dodge truck.

2) Turn the key to the "On" position, but do not start the vehicle.

3) Press the gas pedal all the way to the floor three times in rapid succession.

4) Turn the key to the "Off" position. This should reset your oil change indicator light.

The 4Runner goes off mileage...so it is every 5K miles. Not too bad, I change out the oil before that anyway.

Our caravan used to do that. We could change the service interval in the overhead display. If you changed it from 3k-5k and then back to 3k it would reset itself.

My parent's mini uses some sort of testing procedure to determine when it is required. When they bought it they got free oil changes for the first 12k miles. They never got to take advantage of that.

I thought that the signal for oil change was based on oil, not miles, as it's always different mileage on mine. Oil gets dirty, it's time to change.
If it signals you to change earlier than expected, then I might be inclined to think something is wrong with the system.

I probably need some educating on the matter, but that's my take.
Usually 2cents, today, yours for free.

have a good one
