gk, you lookin to sell that rig?
What kinda mileage you get with that big ole 460?
I knew a guy had one in a pickup only got about 8mpg.

But seriously, inside looks well kept, and working properly.
It's just a long way from Mississippi to Colorado. Guess we could pick it up on the first round headed west :-)

Hey, there's a 31 ft Scotty on a 95 RAM 3500 chassis in Baton Rouge.
12 valve with an upgraded valve body and torque converter!!!
A little pricy, $10k, but he says make an offer.....hmmm....
I can't bring myself to put more than about $7k in something to drive 2 weeks out of the year!

There are a ton of big block gas engine Motor homes that would fit that price range but most of the diesel ones I've seen are between $10,000 and $15,000. Since the gas spike a year ago people seem to be unloading them out here on the left coast.

Yep - I want to get either a truck camper or small 5th wheel trailer. I can get 8mpg on a good day on the flats. Of course, not a lot of flats here in CO, so running up the mountains pulling my jeep I get about 6 I think. But, since it's my hunting camp, I tend to look at the cost of fuel vs the comfort of my own bed, heat, toilet, shower, hot and cold running water, fridge and all the other comforts of home as a good tradeoff.

Just picked up a 01 lance camper. Cost almost as much as a whole motorhome
But I figure I will only have to take care of one truck I can unload the camper when not in use. Thing is amazing has everything and fits in the back of my pickup.

I thought about a slide-in, especially since I already have the Dodge, but I didn't think it would be enough room, (basically the wife didn't go for it). Like I said, it's for the road probably 2 weeks at a time so it needs to be somewhat user friendly, though I'm certainly not looking for first class.

Like Sootster said, there's plenty of gassers out there in the price range. It's just a matter of finding some close and picking one. I personally think I would prefer a small block. I've seen claims of 10-12 mpg with a tbi 350.
There are several options with the Ford V10, and I've heard they aren't as bad on fuel as one might think. One regional fire dept has a 15 passenger van they send to schools, and claim it gets about 15mpg.

Bama, that Allegro does look interesting. It's just above Nashville, 315 miles away, roughly the same distance as Baton Rouge. Wish there were more pictures...

That's exactly my reasoning to go back to a TC (truck camper). One less motor vehicle to care for. The size is my only real hesitation (well, cost, too) ... just really hard for me to picture sitting at the dinette when I've gotten very accustomed to the sofa and easy chairs. We started off with a TC back in the early 80s tho, so this isn't my first rodeo.

Bama, the minimum is $14k on the allgero in Tn. Just a little more than I'm willing to spend right now. I still think I can get a nice gasser for under $10k, pretty sure of it in fact.
