Question Propane injection??

I have seen propane kits for the cummins, and wanted to know if any one on here is running propane. Does it really give you an extra 4-8 mpg? Are you really saving any money having to buy diesel, and propane? What size tank do you use, and how many miles does it last? How much does it cost to fill the tank you use? I figure real answers from the best diesel forum on the web will be better then reading all this BS from the people selling the kits.

Been looking at this myself. I've seen people on other sites installing them, and they seem to be in the testing stage. Appears the hard part is trying to hone in how much to inject. But I haven't seen any real hard data as to end results. I'd like more info before I drop the cash and start something like this. Would be nice if this works like it advertise and use it on those long hauls.

I've wondered about doing this and use a propane or natural gas carburetor (mixer actually theyre called) so that it is metered according to how much air flow is going to the engine. Probably just a simple two stage regulator system and a manual shutoff solenoid. Propane here is 2.20 a gallon.

I always thought propane injection was similar to nitrous or methanol/water injection systems. Either on or off through an orifice for flow rates when you wanted more power.I don't see how that could help with MPG much.

A few little things to take care of 1st then I might be that monkey. From what I have read so far you do have a switch for turning it on or off, but it uses engine vacuum to control the flow of propane. I'm still confused on how it all works.
