Took me years to figure out I had this condition (via a barium enema). I feel for you.
Especially w/o warning. Wow! That is odd and a little alarming.
Now I just avoid nuts, seeds etc.. Or else a few days later the cramps begin.
Glad you are feeling better cougar.

I get to go through the "borescope" routine a week from tomorrow.. Had issues with reflux for years, so I get the upper done and a lower while I'm there.. 2 bird with one shot/stone so to speak. Or both ends of the candle as it were.. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I've run from the doc for a while now, and I'm tired of arguing. Carrying about 80 extra pounds and 3 stents in my heart, I guess its time to listen to the doc...

A good friend of mine says "If we'd known we were gonna live this long, we'd have taken better care of ourselves"

ps. I'll be 55 in November.

Default The good, the bad, and the ugly

Had my bore scope yesterday. Between the prior day purge, lab work, and the bore scope I'm pretty beat up.
The ugly: a big 10mm polyp obstructing my rectum was removed.
The bad: 4 diverticulitis next to each other in a small section. This significantly weakens the colon wall in that spot. And the infection was coming back.
The good: With the polyp removed, there is less "back pressure" that would stress the damaged area. The diverticulitis look liked it was healing. So the doctor put me back on antibiotics to help fight the infection. If surgery becomes necessary, it would be less sever because only a small section would have to be removed.
Sorry for the graphic details, but I don't want you to go through what I'm going through, or worse. Take care of yourself and be more conscious of what you eat.

I've had a few bouts of diverticulitis ... one thing that helped me a couple of times when I felt it coming on was drinking a gallon of aloe vera juice (local health food store) 12 oz or so at a time, across a day.

I think that is the site record. I don't know how big mine was but I have a pic around here somewhere.

I heard a "Class Clown' sort of fella talking about his. He said it was so big that the doctor started calling other doctors, nurses and techs to see this wonder of nature.
I said "you shoulda charged admission".

When a Colo-rectal doctor talks about 9 hoes a day, he is probably not talking about golf.
