Question What is the best a/t or m/t tire to put on my 2006 megacab

i have a 2006 megacab 2500 and have 35 12/50 17 dynapro m/t and want to drop down to 33 12/50 17. prefferably a m/t but would settle for an a/t. We are moving to Alaska in january so need a good tire on snow and ice as well as off road. Any suggestions?

Hankook & Nitto makes some really good AT treads.

I've had good luck with Toyo Open Country AT's and Rick Cepek Fun Country II'S.

Tires are a hard one to recommend as everyone has different requirements and expectations.

Hey max I'm heading to Anchorage for the next four years. i have ran the Nitto Terragrapplers on my old 97 2500 and got horrible wear out of them. They were only on the truck for maybe a year and a half and i spent 8 months of that deployed to Afghanistan so they have about 20,000 miles on them and they need replaced already. How do you feel about the General Grabbers? Also do you lose that much milage with 35 12/50 verses a 33 12/50? i have the 35's now and was thinking about going to a 33 if the milage will get better.

Little shocked you got poor mileage out of those tires. Load range E right? I had 3 sets with no issues.

Makes me wonder if your shocks need replacement, BJ are bad or alignment was out.

the shocks are brand new and the wheel bearing had to be changed on the passenger side and it had a front end alignment at the same time. ball joints check good as well. i just ordered mickey thompson mtz's 33 12/50 17 so we will see how the milage is. if it doesn't change then i will def be going back to 35 12/50 17.

I have several people with MTZs, and they got great mileage out of them. They are running a lot lighter trucks thou.
