Shane, Portable buildings, up to 12x40.
Better money, lot easier than irrigation!!!!!!

Herk, thanks, that's what he said, I didn't know for sure, but I knew lots of half tons could just swap the ring gear and pinion.
I don't like 4.10's, but like I've said, this baby is gonna be totin it!!
I've towed 10k# with my 2500 and 3.55's.
Even towed a few of these buildings with it before.
It did fair, but a head wind was a killer!!
It's not so much the weight as you're pulling a 12x13 wall down the road flat to the wind!
If you can do 60, be happy. Anything over that is a bonus.

Lot of the guys been doing it a while have went to medium duty trucks, business class freightliners, and trailer toters.
Got my eye on a 97 ford Aeromax with a CAT & 8 speed, $16k, but I want to have a backup that can handle it, just in case, and I've been wanting to trade these 2 I've got for a nice 12 valve anyway.

Oh, ANYBODY have an engine clean enough you can see the dipstick thru the oil after 5k miles??
I pulled the stick and said, " you must've just changed it" he said "no, actually it's about due for a change.
I swear, looked like new oil......hmmm
Surely he wouldn't lie to me...

My trailer usually is around 15500 to 16k. I really have no pronlems towing it ever. Can run 70 to 72 pretty easily all the time. I have only looked at swapping just for a little quicker get up and go.

I only had my superchip on tow safe...about 40hp they say.
You've got some pretty good upgrades there, but this is gonna be every day. Don't wanna melt the pistons!! LOL

Got a 96 Ford Aeromax, C12, 8 speed, single axle, 34k GVW, for sale close...seems like overkill!!
A cummins 8.3 sounds ideal to me, but hard to find.
Found one in a business class freightliner with sleeper and 6 speed Allison, $20K asking price...

Looked at Kodiak 5500's today online, mostly Duramax, few C7 cats, but those both sound a little squeamish too.
Guess if it's geared lower than a 3500 might be ok.

Guys all over the country pull with duallys, but seems they wear one out every 2 years or so...100k mi a year if you're gonna roll.
Most of the local guys went to single axle tractors and say they wouldn't go back.
$4,000 difference in the insurance cost though.

I would continue with a dually. If it ever goes south u have a truck still usuable. What you pulling like a 43' gooseneck? I have been looking at starting to do this in a few years maybe start my own business. I know a hotshotter with 1.3 million on one and only one rebuild. So why the heck not take care of it it will take care of you.

36 ft gooseneck, but its the pulling a big box in the wind that gets ya,
A set of Firestone's last 25k mi at best if they're duals...more like 10k single.
Its a constant strain.
Its harder on a truck than hotshottin. I got a buddy with 3 ford 7.3's over a million

I hear you on that. I am lucky to get 35k out of drive tires and 45k out of steer. Have had really good luck with these bfg commercial ta tires. They look to be holding up the best out of all i have had. Camper has nearly 4k tongue weigt.

Don't know that we tried EVERYTHING, but the word among the drivers was firestone transforce held up best. Did out of all we tried.
Like I said, the constant strain,
although when we started with a 3/4 ton we discovered the center of both rear rims was cracked after about a month!!!!
Got to feeling really squirmy one day...

Not a big fan of this straight pipe ROAR...
It's not bad inside the cab, but everyone outside says it's LOUD, and easing in at midnight at mom & dad's is impossible.
Friend's neighbors probably aren't fond of it either....

The previous owner replaced the muffler and resonator with a straight pipe.
Don't really care about a whole new system, just a non restrictive performance muffler to mellow things out a bit.
Quieter is better, but definitely non restrictive.

Any suggestions?
What you guys have and like?

Twins will quiet the exhaust down. Mine's not loud at all, and I have a 4" straight exhaust.
