Default Removing leaf spring to soften ride?

Anyone here done anything crazy with the rear leaf units? I don't haul anything and want a softer ride. Seems great the few times I had even 500 pounds.

Can I pull a leaf or two out and if so the short or long ones?

Thanks
JR

If your truck came with the factory overload (camper package)springs, you could take them off for a softer ride. Not sure if I'd pull leaves out of the main spring pack tho.

You can also try a set of Velve-ride shackles. They replace your two rear shackles with a 'rubber dampened' hindged shackle. They seem to take the some of the emtpy bounce bounce bounce out of the rear end when you are going down the road. I don't know how long they last, I've only had mine on for 40K miles. I like a vehicle with good gas shocks, too.

Yes, I think it has camper package. There is a leaf on bottom that looks like it has 2 rubber bumpers and one on top that looks like it helps with severe overload by hitting on frame.

My guess is that I could remove ones on bottom..
right?

thanks for feedbak fellas

The main spring pack has 4 leaves in it,then a small block, and the overload(camper)springs sits on top of everything. The overloads should only be 2 leaves. Might have to get shorter U bolts if you take them out.
