Default NV 4500 transmission fluid

Looking for part #'s for my tranny fluid. NV 4500. I understand Syntorqe is it. GM has something that is less $ ? In searching I found part #'s at http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/transmi...v4500_spec.htm but CTD and GM dealers told me they were not good #'s. I really don't want to put the wrong thing in when I change it out. I went to http://www.standardtransmission.com/ Click "products" on left, click "Dodgew/Cummins Diesel" go to bottom of page. This is $54.00 per gallon "Castrol Syntorq Oil". Is this the stuff?

I have a service manual for my 94 with the same transmission. It's suggests the Syntorq as you mentioned or the Mopar Synthetic Manual Trans. Fluid. The part number for that is 4637579. It's a 94 mind you and would assume the part number would stay the same?
Oh, there is another I could recommend.

Would that be MTF Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid? Price is good.

The NV4500 uses the Amsoil (MTG) 75w-90 gear lube (GL-4) $8.75 qt. The (MTF) synchromesh 5w-30 is for the NV 1500,2550,3500,3550,5600 etc.

Herb, any feedback from your customers with the NV4500 using Amsoil?

I have a few locals using it, no complaints last time they dropped by. The word from other Dealers is excellent.

I have a notchy 1-2 shift and will try the Amsoil to see if it helps. I'll let you know what I find. Does anyone have any comparison data to the Mopar (or Castrol) fluid?
