Default Broke the e-brake cable!

I was fixing a few things on the old truck a few weeks ago (took about half a turn of play out of the steering wheel and cleaned out the air filter housing). That all went so well I decided to take the slack out of the ebrake cables so the BRAKE light on the cluster would turn off. There was too much room between the dash switch and the foot lever. So I PB Blastered everything at the yoke by the back wheels and had it all turned and it suddenly seized and broke the end off of the cable. Now i have no ebrake and on a manual tranny, that's kind of important.

So now I have to replace the cable from the foot pedal back to the yoke by the rear wheels. Anyone done this and have any warnings or advice?

Where can I find a replacement cable?

Thanks

Joe

By 'yoke' are you referring to the equalizer rocker that connects the pedal cable to the wheel cables?

When I sheared the end pill off the left cable on my 91 at the rocker I used a #8 sheet metal screw 2" long clamped to the raw end of the cable with antenna guy wire clamps. It did the job till I was able to find a replacement cable.

Yes, that's what I'm referring to, thanks.

Any good brake shop should be able to get you the cable. You can order from EGR too

They can make one to order if I take photos of the ends etc. Guess I'll have to do that, they didn't respond to my question on approximate cost, which is kinda scary.

On a related note, they did send me 3 copies of their 19.1mb brochure so I know what else they can do for me. If we weren't on a T-1, I could have gone to the bar while they were downloading. Dang.
