Stuck in 5th gear
Old Red got stuck in 5th gear yesterday morning on the way to work, after a trip downhill to a story parking lot with the clutch in I was able to get her off the road. Had to go into the store to let the manager know it's not a homeless truck and that I would be getting it towed. he said ok and him and a couple of employees helped push it into a parking spot on the far side of the lot. called the wife to come take me to work. I tried getting it out of gear till she got there. She pulled into the parking lot and I tried one more time. It released 5th gear. I drove it home and parked it. So first guess is 5th gear is going south, ant other ideas on this strange event?

My first thought would be shifting fork worn or damaged, but I don't know..
Simple things first.

For now, it will do it again. Shift fork as smoke suggested or the shift rack. Shafts worn and /or ball detents worn/damaged. The only way to find out is to pull the transmission.
